The Host

I came up with the idea of analyzing sports data from combining two of my favorite things, which is sports and data analytics. I am really gifted in math and using/finding data points is really fun to me, so to use it in sports is one of the best things I can imagine. I am hoping to work in abstract data including movements and habits. I will probably also work in the major statistics categories to get to the abstract categories. Including batting averages, ERA’s, field goal percentages, and completion percentages in the sports I am hoping to work in which are American football, baseball, and basketball, which are three of my favorite sports.

I have a couple of plans on using data science and analytics for sports. One plan is to work with teams or players to deepen the methods of the players, to get out data that is very precise data to be able to make predictions from opponents, and to change some bad habits in their overall game. Another plan is to work with sports reporters/companies to use my data to help get out information and thoughts, like ESPN or other sports reporting companies. I will also love to interview some experts to get a higher knowledge on data science, analytics, and sports data science/analytics to possibly create a source to teach others on this topic. This can include a handbook or a video. I can also start to create content myself and become a reporter that releases data to the public via social media or even television if I can grow enough to get there.

One of my goals for this organization is to give out information and abstract data that isn’t given out enough to the public. However a large goal for me is to work with a professional team in the data science industry, or even ESPN in this industry. My goal abroad is to improve how the game is played.

Rafael "Fella" Kaissar

My name is Rafael Kaissar, I am a 14-year-old freshman at the Ethical Culture Fieldston School in the Bronx, and I was born and raised here in New York City. Ever since I was a baby, I have been in love with sports. Watching my New York Yankees win the World Series in 2009 when I was 1, and the New York Giants win the Super Bowl in 2011 when I was 3. I am also a very big New York Knicks fan, but sadly I have never seen them win a championship yet when I’ve been alive. I’ve gotten into data science because I love math, science, and using data in general. These are the only classes where I am not affected by my learning difficulties, which is why I pursue them and try to be great with them.

How Is This Program Going To Work

I am hoping to focus on a couple of branches in this program. One branch is analyzing and sharing data to the public, media, reporters, teams, or/and players.

Another branch is to create content, a handbook or videos, for people to have a better understanding of data science and data analytics especially in sports.

My last branch is for me to interview experts and scholars on data science, players and team staff on sport teams (hopefully professionally), and reporters who use data science on sports. I will then release these interviews or breakdowns of the interviews to the public if I have consent from the interviewee.
